The CRACOW HARP QUINTET is a band composed of graduates of the best European music universities – flutist Magdalena Di Blasi, harpist Adrian Nowak, violinist Barbara Mglej, violist Jan Czyżewski and cellist Paweł Czarakczew. Thanks to a joint initiative, the quintet members share their passion by performing on stages in Poland and abroad, also achieving success at international competitions (2nd prize at the 7th Iberian Contest of Chamber Music with Harp in Madrid in 2019).
The Cracow Harp Quintet, as the only professional chamber ensemble in Poland with this unusual composition, promotes chamber music created for the legendary Quintette Instrumental de Paris. The formation is characterized by the softness of the French interpretation (quote by Isabelle Perrin) and the fullness and diversity of sound equal to that of a symphony orchestra (quote by Margit Anna Suss).
The main part of the group’s repertoire consists of works from the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, in particular those originating from French impressionism. In addition to compositions by, among others, Roussel, Cras and Tournier, the program includes works by Polish composers such as Aleksander Tansman. The artists, not limiting themselves to the performance of impressionist music, constantly expand their repertoire with new items, creating original arrangements of chamber and orchestral works, and engaging in projects that go beyond the framework of broadly understood classical music. Their debut album “Hommage” was released in May 2022 – DUX publishing house.
